Sanya, the second biggest and a new tropical seaside tourist garden city which is situated in the southmost part of Hainan Island, lying at between N18°09′34″-18°37′27″ and  E108°56′30″-109°48′28″ with the South China Sea on the south and being adjacent to Lingshui County in the east, Baoting County in the north and Ledong County in the west, is the hub of the communications of Hainan Province and an important cabotage port in the southmost of Southeast China covering a total land area of 191958sq.km. among which is a layout area of 37sq.km.of the city. The total length of the city is 916km between east and west and the total width is 51km. between south and north bordering upon high mountains in the north and sea on the south with 209.1 km. coastline and the hypsography sloping from north to south shaping a long and narrow polygon. There are 19 big and small ports, and more than 40 islands and islets and the larger one among which are West Maozhou island with a total area of 2.12 sq.km. and Wuzhizhou island with a total land area of 1.05 sq.km. in Sanya, the main ports are Sanya Port, Yulin Port, Nanshan Port, Tielu Port and Liudao Port, etc. and the main bays are Sanya Bay, Haitang Bay, Yalong Bay, Yazhou Bay, Dadonghai Bay, Yueliang Bay and so on.
